To be honest moon phase watches are a complication I have always loved but could never commit myself to, until now! Debethune is a brand that is mad complicated and highly finished. I have to say though, this time they have made me dope sick over this new DB25 and DB doesn't mean dirty bastard!, just in case you were wondering? This watch has heart and soul and is clean to the core. Just when you look at it and think it's a Classque Breguet on the front with blue Roman numerals and blue hands on a white dial with no second hand and a moonphase indicator in your face at the 12 o'clock position, the back screams twin barrel 8 day power reserve hand wound movement.
So let's get to the dirty nitty gritty. So what's under the hood? Well the moon phase consists of two hemispheres, one in steel and the other in Platinum, so the moon sphere rotates on it's own axis which allows us to see on the dial an exact reproduction of what we see up in the sky. How fucking cool is that? The turning mechanism for the sphere is so precise that it would take 122 years to be out of sync by a day. The watch is available in rose gold or 18k white gold, the case is 44.6 mm, double sapphire crystals and the watch is water resistant to 50 meters. THe lugs of the watch are open art deco while the dial is silvered gold and completely guilloched by hand. By incorporating the latest technologies Debethune is able to achieve the most contempporary of designs in the most classic way. If you ready to shut up and put up. go get yourself a contemporary piece that screams classic phase!
