People, I can tell you from personal experience that Jager Le Coultre was the first to do watch trainings the right way, on a professional, educational, and technical level. Their Master Class is legendary, paving the way for their sister brands and the rest of the watch community in the way they conduct watch trainings today.
About almost 5 years ago now when the JLC Grande Date Reverso in stainless steel was released, I was invited with other dealers from all over the country to Master Class In NYC by Jaeger le Coultre. They were gracious enough to take care of the whole thing, from the travel arrangements, three nights stay in the World Famous Waldorf Astoria, Conducted all day trainings at Christies where they reserved one full floor for this Masters in watch training. In the evenings we were taken to only the hippest, coolest restaurants the city had to offer, and they did their best to entertain us so we never felt like we were at some boring, lifeless, class. They went all out by having their head watchmakers fly in from Switzerland, as well as 12 working watch stations so we could get a first hand at how assembling movements is actually done, with the latest in 3D software programs to help assist making the assembly process a much more pleasurable hands on experience.
Do you think we were done yet? Hell No! Half the day was spent working with watchmakers and trying to assemble movements without hurting anyone, and the other half was spent on working with new product and sales techniques used to help sell the brand at the sales counter. At the end we were all given diploma's certifying us that we were trained by JLC, which always makes you feel good especially if your not used to getting diplomas.
With the way the brand has taken of like a bottle rocket since that time, This year JLC really went full on out because of their 175Th Anniversary, they decided to celebrate in style in Singapore. Singapore being the first destination in the world for Master Class training on the Cal 751 movement which is used in the JLC Master Compressor Chronograph. This was being offered to watch enthusiasts from the 17-22 of July not only to express the views and craftsmanship of the brands philosophies but to visually demonstrate how the watch is assembled by having the guidance of the Master Watchmaker and Master Craftsman on site which was truly an outstanding, memorable experience.
This growth is the next logical step, because for years it was only offered to retailers and now its being offered to the consumer for a fee. This is absolutely brilliant because Master Class truly builds brand loyalty on so many different levels, as well as provides an intimate experience between the collector and or enthusiasts and pure passion for the art of watchmaking. Just when you think you have missed the opportunity don't worry because if you happen to be in Germany,France or China in the up coming weeks and month's you can sign up by joining Le Club on JLC's website or by contacting one of Jaeger Le Coultre's 8 boutiques worldwide! Just don't forget when you show up for any one of these watchmaking weeks, bring your Platinum or Gold Plastic!
